Click on the below to see breathtaking pictures and incredible information about Sandy, Hoboken, and the amazing Hoboken CERT team's response to Sandy!Hoboken CERT played a major role in helping out during Hurricane Sandy. Among other services Hoboken CERT Coordinated over 5000 volunteers, set up and ran a pharmacy program, facilitated food deliveries to seniors and those not able to get out of their homes, and oversaw and ran the various food distribution
locations throughout the city. In addition, we staffed and ran three shelters as well as staffed and helped run the operation of the 24/7 Emergency Operations Center in City Hall. During Hurricane Sandy I am proud to say our volunteers have clocked over 1800 hours. This enormous task cost the taxpayers not a single penny. Our members have paid out of pocket for the supplies and equipment to keep us going. In recognition of our efforts, we were recently nominated by the New Jersey State Citizens Corps for the 2013 FEMA Community Preparedness Award, the only CERT group of 178 in the state to be so nominated. |
