NewsOctober 2020: Hoboken C.E.R.T. annual October training is postponed due to COVID/Corona Virus Restrictions. Please follow us on social media to hear about the training opportunities. October 2017: The City of Hoboken invites members of the community to join its 100-strong and growing Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). State-certified trainers will hold a series of free CERT classes on two weekends in October. Those interested in joining Hoboken CERT can submit an online application at: http://hoboken.seamlessdocs.com/f/cert. Participation in CERT requires the successful completion of a training course on a range of subject matter specific to emergency response and disaster relief. All classes will be held at the Multi Service Center, 124 Grand Street starting at 8:00am sharp and concluding at 4:00pm. There will be a 1 hour lunch break between modules. The training schedule for October 2017 is as follows: 10/21/2017 - Disaster preparedness & Fire safety 10/22/2017 - Disaster medical operations 1 & Disaster medical operations 2 10/28/2017 - Light search and rescue operations & CERT organization 10/29/2017 - Disaster psychology & Terrorism in CERT The final drill and exercise location and date will be announced during the class. Participants must attend every module of training as well as participate in the final emergency simulation exercise in order to receive certification as a fully trained CERT Team member. Upon completion of the training, each participant will be issued a CERT Member Emergency Kit. No prior experience is required and the training is free. Past EventsJuly 4, 2013: Hoboken CERT will be helping the community on July 4th Hoboken if unique in that it is an optimum spot for over 20000 spectators to view the spectacular Macys Fireworks show. Our team will be deployed to do various tasks around the city.
Hoboken CERT wins FEMA AwardHoboken CERT is incredibly proud to have been received
the "Community Preparedness Heroes" FEMA Award. The seven awards that were awarded recognize individuals who have taken action to prepare their communities. This year, highlighted accomplishments were achieved between January 1, 2012 and June 5, 2013. “We can only be prepared for disasters if we have strong leadership in our communities,” said FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate. “Today’s winners represent a cross-section of our community and demonstrate how emergency management is a shared responsibility.” Click here for the full FEMA press release.
